My RC Hobby

What’s the deal with people not liking radio controlled cars, planes and boats? I don’t understand why some don’t appreciate such a thing. They may say that I should use my time for more productive purposes. They also may state that it is time I grow up and stop playing with toys. But I would say to them that there is more to RC cars than meets the eye. First off, if you go to Radio Shack and get one of those RC cars, it is not the same as what I do. My car is powered by an engine just like the one in your car and it can actually do over 60 mph. If you adjust for scale, that is very fast. These cars are very complex and can finely tuned to give more power or better handling just like any real car. The kicker is that I don’t have to pay for insurance or anything though, and I can take my car out on the street and still have a lot of fun with it without getting into big trouble. The same can be said of electric RC planes and even a gas RC boat because they can also be made to go extremely fast and you need to be very precise to control them properly. And perhaps the best way to learn about precise controls is to pick up a mini RC helicopter that you can use in your house. This would give you the precision you want and would allow you to be able to learn all about radio controlled vehicles. Plus, those RC helicopters are not that expensive and can be easily replaced before you step up to the big leagues. I really like my radio controlled vehicles and would tell anyone else to try it for themselves before they dismiss it.

My Buddies and Their Car Parts

I was looking for some Cherokee parts the other day and I came across a Mustang performance Website. Isn’t that odd? What’s the deal with Websites popping up that you don’t want when you type in certain keywords. Well, I found the parts that I wanted for my Jeep and got them for a good price, but now my friends want me to find the best deals for their vehicles, because they are not car people. One guy has a Dodge and wants the cheapest Dodge Ram parts that I can find for him. Of course he is looking for an exhaust system to make the engine in his truck come to life and get that typical V8 sound that truck guys love so much. My other friend is looking to get a new grille for his Caddy and I have to ask him what he is really looking for because there are many different Cadillac Grills on the Internet to choose from. Finding these parts is not a problem for me because I actually like to do research on the Internet, and they always buy the beers for me.

Ford Aspire

Picture
Looking over the Web today I stumbled upon a site that I found quite humorous. It was a site dedicated to a car, but not just any car. This site was all about the Ford Aspire. Now, the Aspire is not what you would call a beautiful car. In fact, the only thing that makes it technically a car is that it has four wheels and can move in a forward direction most of the time. It’s the sort of car that you wouldn’t mind throwing into a pile of poker chip sets just to get rid of it. I have always wondered though if you could make any car better by adding other car’s parts to it. For example, if you wanted to make the Aspire better, could you simply strap on some Corvette accessories? If you had them custom fit, would those accessories bring the quality up or make it into a sort of a Frankenstein’s Monster kind of a car? Or if you simply ate cavier (caviar?) in it, would that relegate it to a new status of high class? Regardless, it stands to reason that the Aspire was so small that it could have almost served as a puck for air hockey tables. The interior dimensions were not that great considering the fact that it looked like a giant bubble. Oh well, you have to at least give Ford credit for actually putting a vehicle like that on the road and not being bankrupt like some other car makers I know of. Kudos then to the Aspire for not breaking Ford.

Wide Body MR2

Picture
Yesterday I was looking through a magazine when I came across a picture of a car. But this was not just any old car. The magazine in question was called Modified and it had an SW20 MR2 in it that had a great body kit on it. The MR2 body kits that I have seen on the Internet came extremely close to this one, but this one was a wide body kit. This meant that the owner could space the suspension out farther, and install larger wheels and tires. This helps with the handling aspect of the car because with the larger tires and better suspension, the car will experience less body roll and improved traction. You would almost have to wear a Shoei motorcycle helmet if you wanted to experience the full force of the g’s that car put out. The only way that I will be able to get close to that sort of handling and looks is to get myself some gas powered RC cars.
